3-hour circular walk with exciting details about the castle ruins and local history of Zweisimmen.

Welcome to the country of the counts, knights and castles. It's already a long time ago but just so close to each own childhood. The Obersimmental has its beautiful landscape with a historic core. Because the two former castles on the Mannenberg and the parish church at Zweisimmen testify to the great importance. Historians assume that already in the early Middle Ages a castle perched on the Mannenberg and was the centre of power. At this period the Simmental was still a part of the Burgundian royal estate.

By the iron knight at the railway station by Zweisimmen a journey begins, that takes through a landscape full of stories. Finally reached the Mannenberg, the castle with its refurbished ruins will appear. 18 boards are placed along the long Burgenweg and enrich personal memories with exciting information about the individual places and buildings of this period. It also leads via Grubenwald and Steinegg along the historic route back to Obegg / Zweisimmen.
