Fondueland Gstaad
The perfect mix
With its gentle topography and varied speciality cheeses, the Destination Gstaad offers the perfect mix for sophisticated bons vivants. In Fondueland Gstaad, there is nothing more natural than enjoying a delicious fondue surrounded by the mountain landscape. In a place where fresh air, lush pastures and herbs provide the best possible foundation for outstanding cheese.
Six inordinately large fondue pots and two specially designated huts, each with enough room for up to eight people, provide the perfect backdrop for dining, socialising and marvelling at the unparalleled panoramic views. Whether you travel on foot, by bike, by sledge or on snowshoes, or even if you would like to choose your very own outdoor relaxation spot – anything is possible in Fondueland Gstaad. By the way: this fondue is the perfect mix at any time of year.
The Fondue Backpack
This is made possible thanks to the fondue backpack in a nostalgic design. It contains all of the ingredients needed for the irresistible outdoor experience: a full set of preparation equipment, either a traditional thick fondue or a particularly flavoursome truffle fondue made by the local dairies, as well as crusty fondue bread supplied by the local bakeries, spices, fondue pot, warmer, plates and forks. The fondue backpack is available from 2 people.
Now also available with raclette!
The raclette backpack contains the finest regional raclette cheese from local dairies, crusty bread from local bakeries, spices, Vulcano oven with rechaud, plates and cutlery. The Vulcano oven is easy to use and the first raclette can be enjoyed after just a few minutes.
The raclette backpack is available for one person or more and costs CHF 18.00 per person. The price includes the hire of the complete raclette equipment. Suitable wine or other drinks are available in the dairies.

The “Chäsflüsterer” (cheese whisperer) in the cheese grotto
And where does the precious gold of the Alps conceal itself during its ripening process? That would be underground, well-hidden between cool rock faces at 7 degrees Celsius. Gstaad’s cheese grotto stores over 3,000 wheels of maturing cheese and is located in what used to be the municipal water catchment. Visitors are taken down steep wooden stairs, 8 metres underground, to learn interesting facts about Berner Hobelkäse AOP and its origin. If an expert-guided tour with nibbles and drinks is your thing, you can book them all year round at the Molkerei Gstaad dairy.
Dairy in Gstaad
A small region with an impressive variety of fine cheeses, where the unspoilt countryside, fresh grass and herbs as fodder, and happy cows make all the difference. Cheeses from near and far can be found in the Saanenland dairies, meaning cheese lovers will feel right at home here.
